As mental affects many global & local impact parameters, this Solveathon is guided by experienced value designers from multiple industries & sectors
MENTAL HEALTH affects >600 million people worldwide and most countries spend less than 2% of government funds in treatment and prevention but lose anywhere between $16million to $2billion a year since 2017.
Mental disorders frequently lead individuals and families into poverty. Homelessness and inappropriate incarceration is far more common for people with mental disorders than for the general population, and exacerbate their marginalization and vulnerability. This annual Mental Health Solveathon will focus on crowdsourcing relevant and applicable solutions to life applicability areas,we call; ‘tracks’.

Vision Health Pioneers sponsored a wildcard into the final selection round of their 9-month Berlin based incubation program; supporting entrepreneurs with training, free coworking space, access to technology, business opportunities and equity-free funding of up to 72,000 Euro per team.The funding is provided through a founders stipend of 2,000 Euros per team member per month (up to 4 co-founders).

Startup coaching for digital health solutions that want to break boundaries, optimize impact and create lasting value to customers/stakeholders.
Trina Histon, PhD, Senior Principal Consultant, Prevention, Wellness & Digital Health
leads and supports national innovation projects in prevention, wellness and digital health. Trina specializes in translating evidence-based medicine into practice in; care delivery in--obesity, physical activity and emotional well being.
She believes in the usage of human-centered research and design methods, to solve thorny problems in healthcare.
Who is supported by the fund?

Students who have completed at least half of their studies at the time of applying.

Entrepreneur Teams of up to 3 people. Teams that are made up of a majority of students are only funded in exceptional cases.
The grant covers personal living expenses:

CHALLENGE STATEMENT EXAMPLES
Over a third (32%) with mental health issues have not told anyone at work, 28 percent have told their manager, 25 percent have disclosed to coworkers other than their manager, 20 percent
disclosed on their employment application
and 19 percent told their HR department.

Up to 80% of those treated for depression show an improvement in their symptoms, usually within 4 to 6 weeks of beginning medication, psychotherapy, support groups or a combination of these approaches. At the same time, it has been estimated that up to 50% of people suffering from depression are not currently receiving treatment.
